Training on Graphics Design
Overview:
In a rapidly digitizing world, creative services like graphic design are no longer niche—they’re vital. With that vision in mind, Shooting Star Ltd. launched a dedicated six-month training program in Netrokona, equipping rural youth—especially school dropouts—with the digital design skills necessary to build a freelancing career and earn independently.
This wasn’t just a training—it was a transformation.
Background:
Bangladesh is emerging as a global hub for outsourcing and freelancing. However, a significant portion of the population—especially in rural areas—remains disconnected from this opportunity due to a lack of access to structured skill development programs.
This project was initiated under the Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Center Project to offer these opportunities to underserved youth, with a specific focus on graphic design for digital markets, online freelancing, and self-employment.
Our Comprehensive Solutions:
We delivered a highly practical, step-by-step training curriculum focused on digital literacy, creative skill-building, and soft skills development.
Program Highlights:
- Graphics Design Training (3 months):
- Visual identity creation, layout design, digital poster/banner creation
- Use of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Freelancing and Online Market Orientation (3 months):
- Profile creation, bidding techniques, mock client projects
- Introduction to Fiverr, Upwork, and Freelancer.com
- Language & Communication:
- APTIS-based English training by British Council standard
- Soft skills: client interaction, presentation, proposal writing
Challenges:
- Dropout Risk:
Many trainees had little prior exposure to formal education or professional etiquette. - Limited Device Access:
Some participants had never worked on a computer before this program. - Short Timeline, Big Goals: We needed to compress years of learning into 6 months of meaningful, real-world preparation.
How We Solved It:
We created a highly engaging, visually driven training environment, incorporated peer-to-peer mentoring, and established a supportive classroom culture to retain and motivate students.
Results:
📍 100 students successfully completed the full course
📍 More than 40% of participants scored 100% attendance
📍 Post-training outcomes:
- Several participants now offer freelance graphic services on local and global platforms
- Graduates began receiving small local assignments within a month of completion
- Enhanced local visibility for the program, inspiring more youth to apply in following cycles
Why It Matters:
This wasn’t just a graphics course—it was a pathway to dignity, self-reliance, and creative identity. Through thoughtful pedagogy and a digital-first mindset, Shooting Star Ltd. empowered youth to dream big and design bigger.
